The hospice service intensity add-on and best practices for end-of-life care

The hospice service intensity add-on and best practices for end-of-life care

Presented by Catherine Dehlin, RN, BSN, CHPN, CHCM – Director of Hospice Services for Fazzi Associates

In 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced a service intensity add-on (SIA) payment for routine home care visits by a registered nurse or social worker to meet the increased clinical and emotional needs of patients in the last 7 days of life and their families. However, after two years with this additional benefit, skilled visits at the very end of life have not significantly increased. About 20% of patients do not receive a skilled visit on the day of death. Is your hospice benefitting from the SIA and providing the level of care that your patients and families need?

CMS data reveals an opportunity to integrate clinical, financial, and quality factors to enhance the patient experience in the last days of life, increase patient and family outcomes and satisfaction, and optimize financial performance. The key is learning how. Watch this free, 60-minute webinar presented by Catherine Dehlin, RN, BSN, CHPN, CHCM, Director of Hospice Services at Fazzi Associates. In this webinar, you will learn best practices and interdisciplinary approaches that will help you address staffing challenges, increase accountability, and standardize processes to produce an immediate impact.

Watch and learn:

  • The context behind the hospice SIA and how it has affected hospice services at the end of life
  • The factors common to every agency that impact clinical, quality, and financial performance as it relates to the SIA
  • Best practice standards that can maximize your patients’ quality of care and family satisfaction at the end of life

The SIA supports your hospice as you deliver the care your patients and their families need at end of life. This webinar has the guidance your hospice needs to make it work. Don’t miss it!
