Levels of care in hospice: what you need to know and what you need to do
Presented by Marcia Levetown, MD, MMM, HMDC, FAAHPM

Hospice patients may require different levels of care during the course of care. To address this need, Medicare’s hospice benefit provides four levels of care intensity. However, recent studies by the Office of Inspector General have found high levels of inappropriate billing for some of the advanced levels of care, particularly continuous care and general inpatient care. To survive scrutiny by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), it is essential for you and your team to be up-to-date on the eligibility requirements for the levels of care in hospice.

Watch this free, 60-minute webinar presented by Marcia Levetown, MD, MMM, HMDC, FAAHPM. Dr. Levetown will provide a thorough review of the requirements for each level of care, paying special attention to those advanced levels that draw CMS scrutiny.

Watch to learn:

  • The four levels of care that Medicare requires of all hospices, including those that receive high scrutiny from CMS
  • Eligibility and expectations for continuous/inpatient care
  • Your team’s responsibility for and management of continuous care/inpatient care patients

Don’t miss this important opportunity for you and your team to deepen your understanding of levels of care and to ensure that your hospice stays on the right side of compliance with effective documentation.
