Helping patients and families make tough choices: a primer for post-acute providers
Presented by Marcia Levetown, MD, MMM, HMDC, FAAHPM

Thursday, December 13 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm Central Time

Decisions about end of life are emotionally charged, culturally determined, and have long-term impact on patients, families, and society. As healthcare professionals, we have the opportunity and responsibility to assist patients and their loved ones in understanding the reality of their situations and options. When we do this well, we can prevent harm, suffering, guilt, and dysfunctional grief while also honoring individual and family values, reducing staff stress and burnout, and reducing the cost of healthcare.

Join us Thursday, December 13 from 12:00pm-1:00pm Central Time for a free webinar — Helping patients and families make tough choices: a primer for post-acute providers — presented by pioneering hospice physician Marcia Levetown, MD, MMM, HMDC, FAAHPM. Dr. Levetown will provide a research-based review of patient and family needs for knowledge and support. She will identify helpful strategies and word choices for these important conversations and will discuss the ethical and legal issues that underlie some of the more contentious options near end of life.

Attend and learn how to:

  • Meet the emotional and factual needs of patients and families in the face of terminal illness
  • Choose words that provide empathic support and prevent unwarranted guilt for patients and their loved ones
  • Elicit and apply patient values to end of life decisions

Don’t miss this important opportunity for you and your team to learn how to assist patients and families through the difficult choices that provide greater clarity to the goals of care.
